FEATURED PROGRAMS

Tutoring

Monday and Tuesday 5 PM to 6:30 PM we offer a free, after-school program serving Brightmoor and surrounding area youth in Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Music

7 MILE MUSIC provides free music lessons every Wednesday and Friday throughout the school year.

Summer Camp

A summer camp with age specific lessons, crafts, community projects, field trips, overnight camp, and much more.

At the Table

At the Table has helped launch, train, and equip 15 businesses.

Spanish S.W.A.G.

Spanish language classes for elementary students.

Holiday Food Distribution

Providing a supplement of food during what can be a stressful holiday time for those in extreme poverty.

Health Concerns

Our infant mortality rate is 13.6%. We are one of the leading communities in diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension.



Education

Brightmoor is an education desert. Over 7000 children live in Brightmoor, yet there are only two schools. The dropout rate is a staggering 35% while the national average is around 6%.



The poverty rate in Brightmoor is close to 35%. There is a segment of residents that live on less than $7000 annually which is 150% below the national poverty level. The home ownership rate in Detroit is only 46% compared to a national average of 63%.
