Special thanks to The Good Eggs Foundation and Scheers Ace Hardware for their support of the Brightmoor community. Through the hearts of both Bryan of Ace Hardware and Sandy of The Good Eggs Foundation, Mission:City was the recipient of the Round-Up program and was officially “Egged”.

Through the generosity of others shopping at Ace Hardware within a 3-month time frame they collected 15,028 local donations totaling $7198.47. It is this type of commitment to excellence that helps make a difference in the lives of children and families in our Brightmoor community. So as you are looking for great businesses and organizations to support, please keep them both in the front of your minds!

FOUNDATION | The Good Eggs

The Good Eggs Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to serving the community and to giving children in need support as they grow into independent, strong, and confident individuals, offering the monetary assistance, educational resources, and basic needs they need to live a more comfortable life. They work hard to identify childhood support programs, organizations, and families facing challenges in order to provide care and assistance. Once an organization is ‘EGGED,” it will receive the help that is needed. “EGGINGS” can take various forms, such as offering jackets/hats/gloves, offering school supplies to a group of students, or even helping with local children’s events for those in need.

Scheer’s Ace Hardware was founded by Martin and Philip Scheer in 1946. The store originally known as “Scheer’s Trading Post” joined the Ace Hardware co-operative in 1958. In 1986 the business was sold to the second generation of family and Carol, Paul, and Howard owned the store for the next 34 years. In 2020 Carol’s son Bryan purchased half of the business and is now partnered with Paul. Bryan takes extreme pride in running the Hardware store and carrying on the tradition of his mothers and grandfathers hard work in the Hardware business. Scheer’s Ace Hardware continues to be a proud member of the Oak Park, Ferndale, Pleasant Ridge, and Detroit neighborhoods. An amazing staff with hundreds of years of collective “know-how” and thousands of items in stock, we strive to be your #1 hardware store.
