MISSION: City’s Tutoring and Mentoring Program is a free, after-school program serving Brightmoor and surrounding area youth in Kindergarten through twelfth grade. The program offers tutoring in reading and math as well as basic homework assistance. Through fostering, encouraging, and strengthening a student’s developmental assets during the mentoring time, we help them achieve academic and social success which will prepare them to become productive adults in our community.
Program Schedule The Program operates from 5-8 p.m. on the following days:
- Mondays (Elementary)
- Tuesdays (Middle )
- Thursdays (Highschool)
What Happens in the Tutoring and Mentoring Process? During the first hour, the program emphasizes academic assistance by offering one-on-one tutoring, specifically in reading and math. There is an ACT/SAT Prep section for high school classes. The second hour is spent mentoring with incorporated life lessons using different activities such as arts and crafts, board games, music, computers etc.
